The plans for this boat are free on the internet at:

South Haven Dory

The skeg is made of two pieces of the 1/4 luan laminated together. We fitted it to the bottom of the boat using the same method we used for the seat frames.

.

Test Fit

.

The skeg is glued with thickened epoxy, and held vertical with masking tape while the epoxy sets.

.

Cutting up the fiberglass for the Skeg

.

We coved the angle between the skeg and the bottom with thickened epoxy and then laid up the fiberglass.  There is one thickness of fiberglass on the entire skeg, and triple thickness on the bottom and back edges.

.

The finished Skeg.  The extra layers of fiberglass are for abrasion resistance
